Individual Counseling in the Seattle Area

Are you stressed and worried too much of the time? Do you feel like you’re spinning your wheels, pushing hard, but not getting where you want to go?  Then it’s time to get a better understanding of your own beliefs.

Your beliefs are directing all of your actions and experiences, like an invisible conductor. It’s hard to see them because they’re so much a part of you, and you’re so busy with the tasks of living.

Through individual counseling, I show you how to uncover the beliefs that run your life.

As a trained counselor and observer, I point out patterns you haven’t noticed. When you know exactly what you are doing and why, you are free to experiment with new choices that bring you more satisfying results.

A very common belief is that anxiety is something to run from. Actually, it can be a sign that you need to build your courage. Courage leads to higher self-esteem and a wider sense of possibilities.

Counseling involves homework in between therapy sessions to reinforce what you’re learning.

For example, I might ask you to say “No” to some social invitations, so you have more downtime to tune into yourself. Or write a sentence completion exercise. Or speak up in a meeting instead of keeping quiet.  Whatever your goals for working with a counselor, more self-understanding and more courage will help you reach them.

One woman learned to be more assertive, making her more effective in her work and relationships. One woman learned to be more assertive, making her more effective in her work and relationships. One man overcame his fear of getting married and is now happily wed. A young student found freedom with his career choices and switched to a different major in a different university.

To get started, call me at 425 822-5202 or email to set up a counseling session. If you like, make a free 20-minute appointment to see if I’m a good fit for you.  If you live outside the Seattle area, we can schedule counseling appointments via telephone.

“I felt I could trust Claire with anything I told her. She was very good about guiding me as I explored my ideas. Her exercises helped me to see my situations more clearly and to identify my feelings as they relate to today versus the past.

I liked having phone sessions, discussing issues in the comfort of my own home. I think Claire is a wonderful therapist and I feel so fortunate to have stumbled across her website.”
